Editing Events

This topic explains how to edit events in the Workflow module. Note that only open events can be edited. To access a specific tab of an event, click the Edit button next to the name of the event and select the tab you want to edit from the drop-down list that appears. Keep in mind that you must save the changes in the current tab before accessing another tab.

In the Properties tab, general properties of each event (title, description, type, etc.) can be edited, by default. Note that event types can be changed at any time, even after an event is saved; however, this property cannot be edited in compliance events, while in risk events the type can only be changed to types in which the association with controls and vulnerabilities is enabled in the Object Types section in the Administration module. If the type of an event is changed, the attributes pertaining to the new type will be available, and any values registered for the attributes associated with the old type will be erased.

In the Progress tab, the history of an event can be monitored and its progress updated. Events can also be closed or cancelled in this tab, where any files related to them can be attached as well. Keep in mind that, if an event is associated vertically with one or more events (parent-child association), certain restrictions may apply when editing the status of the event. For details, see the following topics: Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Closing Events, Cancelling Events, Reopening Events, and Deleting Events.

In the Associations tab, an event's associations with assets and business components can be viewed and edited for all event types. For risk treatment events, their associations with vulnerabilities and controls can be viewed, but not edited. Similarly, for compliance events, their associations with requirements can also be viewed, but not edited. In addition, if the Continuity module and the ERM solution (both provided on demand) are installed, the plans and enterprise risks associated with each event will also be available. For details on how to edit these associations, see Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Event Associations with Objects.

In the Associated Events tab, additional events subordinate to the event selected can be created and will then be listed here. These are known as "child events", while the main event is referred to as the "parent event". The Association Type column displays the "Related" word for horizontally associated events and "Child" for vertically associated events. As only generic and custom events can be created in the Workflow module, this tab only allows child events of these types to be created. Risk and compliance events can only be associated with a parent event through the main list of events, where all existing events are available individually. This list also displays the Parent Event column indicating the code of the parent event for each child event. Note that each child event can also have child events of its own. For details on how to edit these associations, see Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Associating and Disassociating Events.

In the Attributes tab, you can view and insert additional information on events through fields created in the Administration module.

In the Location tab, the geographic location of an event can be viewed and edited. The system suggests locations for each associated event: for each main event, the suggested location is that of its related asset; for child events, the suggested location is that of their parent. If no assets or parent events are associated, the suggested location for the event will vary according to the language in which the system was installed: Washington D.C. for English and Spanish, and Brasília for Portuguese.

All types of events can be edited directly in the system. Alternatively, generic and custom events can be exported, edited offline though a spreadsheet, and imported back to the system.
