This section provides orientation on registering collector servers to be used in automated collections, available through the Administration module.
To streamline the analysis of various assets in a specific environment, the system uses OVAL (Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language) to automatically collect evidence on configurations in various platforms. To use this feature in a project, the knowledge base controls associated with an asset component must have been associated with OVAL definitions, a collector server must be registered, and valid credentials must be provided. In addition to knowledge bases that support collections, a separate license for automated collections is also necessary. For more information on obtaining a license for automated collections, contact your account manager. Keep in mind that this section will only be enabled in installations licensed for automated collections.
This collector server will be responsible for managing a request for a collection and returning its results to the system. Modulo's collection service (modSIC) and a valid certificate must be installed in each collector server for these collections to take place. Note that two protocols are available for collector servers, which support collections when modSIC and Modulo Risk Manager are installed on the same or on different networks. For details on installing modSIC, see Appendix -> Installing modSIC in Collector Servers.
