Dashboard Gallery

This section provides orientation on how to manage dashboards in the Data Analytics module.

A dashboard is a set of visual items that organize data to streamline the analysis and interpretation of the data. Dashboards can contain charts, grids, pie charts, maps, images, filters, among other data visualization items that use data from one or more system or external sources.

The dashboards displayed in the Data Analytics module are created through Dashboard Designer, the dashboard creation and editing program provided by Modulo. Through Dashboard Designer, you can use all your creativity and customize dashboards by arranging the layout of visual elements, including captions, colors, formulas, drill-down operations, and more.

The Dashboard Designer and the system database must be downloaded to your computer so that you can begin to create the dashboards. To download the program, create dashboards, and access other features in this section, you must have permission to manage dashboards. For details on how to install and use Dashboard Designer features, see Dashboard Designer User Manual -> Dashboard Designer – Quick Guide.

Keep in mind that three types of data sources can be included in dashboards:

Queries from Modulo Risk Manager: any system queries to which you have access, with the exception of REST queries

SQL queries: SQL queries that are registered in the Data Analytics module and directed to any SQL Server databases, which may or may not be the database of Modulo Risk Manager.

Tables: Tables of Excel files imported to the system, with each table being a data source.

By default, only the system database is available. The databases for SQL queries can be registered in the web.config file of the application. For more information, contact your system administrator.

The dashboards of which you are the author are displayed in the gallery after they are saved in Dashboard Designer. In this section, you can configure access to your dashboard by generating a URL to allow people to access the dashboard without being authenticated in the system. Once you access a dashboard, you can list its data sources, update data sources to ensure that the latest information will be displayed, enable automatic updates, change the display theme, and export dashboards to PDF files or images.

You can share your dashboards by specifying an audience for them. The audience consists of people or groups of people that can view dashboards through the Data Analytics section of the Home module and, if they are allowed to access the Data Analytics module, view them through that module. Likewise, people and groups of people can be assigned as editors so they can have the same permissions as the dashboard author, which includes permission to edit the dashboard through Dashboard Designer. Keep in mind that the audience and the editors will be able to see all the data in the dashboard, regardless of their permissions on the dashboard data sources.
