Creating Generic and Custom Events

This topic explains how to create generic and custom events in the Workflow module, which are designed to monitor any kind of activity. Note that events to treat risks and non-compliances are created directly through projects. In addition, events can be registered through the ERM solution and the Continuity module (when enabled) to treat enterprise risks and monitor continuity plans, respectively. However, once registered, all events are managed in this module. For details, see Chapter 10: Workflow.

Although generic and custom events are similar in all other aspects, generic events be created under the Generic Event type, which is provided by Modulo, whereas custom events are created under custom event types that must be previously registered in the Administration module. For details, see Chapter 17: Administration -> Customizations -> Object Types -> How to Create an Object Type.

Both custom and generic events can also be registered and edited offline through a spreadsheet and later imported to the system. For details, see Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Exporting and Importing Events.

Each event can also have multiple levels of child events registered beneath it. These are created in the Workflow module, either registered directly within each event or associated with a parent event through the main list. Note that events of any type can be associated with a parent or a child event of any type through the main list. However, child events created inside a main event can only be generic or custom because they are registered in the Workflow module. For details on creating a child event directly within an event, see Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Creating Generic and Custom Events -> How to Create a Generic or Custom Event.

Keep in mind that all events can also be associated directly with events of the same level, allowing events created for similar issues to be linked to each other regardless of their status or event type. For details on associating an event with a parent event and on associating events of the same level, see Chapter 10: Workflow -> Events -> Associating and Disassociating Events.
