This section provides orientation on exporting and importing knowledge, available through the Knowledge module.
Modulo provides and updates authoritative documents, cross-references between these documents, knowledge bases, threats, groupings, types of groupings, and surveys. These are generally provided with the system installation or they can be imported offline and updated through this section. Once this knowledge is imported and distributed to the respective sections in the system, the documents are shown as originating from Modulo and can neither be edited directly nor deleted. You can, however, create copies of this content and publish your own versions.
In addition, you can select types of content or specific content from the database for exporting. This will generate a file in .pkg format that can be imported offline to another database with the same language and the same client ID. It is important to note that any content provided by Modulo will not be exported through this operation.
An alternative to importing knowledge packages provided by Modulo is available in the Integration Tasks section of the Administration module, where you can create a routine to integrate the Live Update Service, which will import this same content automatically online. Only new content will be imported or updated, regardless of whether you choose to activate the Live Update Service or import knowledge packages. For details, see Chapter 17: Administration -> Integrations -> Integration Tasks -> Creating an Integration Task for the Live Update Service.
All knowledge updates, including those imported via Live Update, are logged in the history of updates, available in this same section. Note that response sets, CPEs, CCEs, vulnerabilities, and control/requirement mappings will not be imported through knowledge packages. They must be created through their respective editors or imported to the Knowledge module.
