Creating an Integration Task for the Live Update Service

This topic explains how to create an integration task for the Live Update Service. This integration task allows you to create a routine to automatically check for and import new or updated content related to the Knowledge module. Modulo provides and updates authoritative documents, cross-references between authoritative documents, knowledge bases, threats, groupings, types of groupings, and surveys. These are generally provided with the system installation or they can be imported and updated through this task. Once this information is imported, the content will show as originating from Modulo and cannot be directly edited or deleted. You can, however, create copies of this content, edit them, and publish your own versions.

An alternative to the Live Update Service is available in the Knowledge Updates section of the Knowledge module, which allows knowledge packages obtained from the Modulo support team to be imported offline. It also allows custom knowledge packages to be imported and exported through the system itself. Keep in mind that only new content will be imported or updated, regardless of whether you choose to activate the Live Update service or import knowledge packages. For details on importing these packages manually, see Chapter 8: Knowledge -> Knowledge Updates.

Note that response sets, mappings between controls and requirements, CPEs, CCEs, and vulnerabilities will not be imported through the Live Update service or through knowledge packages. They must be created using their respective editors or imported to the Knowledge module.

Also note that for this task to be executed correctly, the network must be configured to allow the Modulo Risk Manager web server to access the https://liveupdate.riskmanager.modulo.com link through the 443/TCP and 8080/TCP ports.
