This topic provides guidance on how to manage SQL queries for use as data sources in dashboards.
All system queries to which you have permission as author, editor, or audience member can be used as data sources in the dashboards of the the Data Analytics module. In addition to the queries available in each module and solution, you can use as data sources the tables from Excel files imported to the system in the Excel Files section and the SQL queries available in this section. These queries have the advantage of allowing you to create your own query model using the SQL language and the ability to use databases external to the system.
You can include people and groups of people in the audience of a SQL query. The query author and its audience members can then view the query in this section and use it as a data source in dashboards. However, only the query author may edit, delete, or view the query code in the SQL query listing. Note that you must have specific permission to manage SQL queries to access this section and use its functions.
