Copying Events

This topic explains how to create events based on copies of other events registered in the system. Copying events can be useful for creating events with characteristics similar to existing events and for creating multiple events at once.

Events are copied through the main list, where you can select one or more events for copying. Open or closed events of all types can be copied, except types in which the association with continuity plans, enterprise risks, controls, and vulnerabilities is enabled in the Administration module. Moreover, only events created in this module can be copied. If canceled events, events generated from other modules, or events of types with association enabled are selected, the system will copy only open or closed events created in this module and of types with disabled association.

When copying an event, all its properties will be copied, except its progress. The percentage of progress of the event created by copy will be set to 0%, and its history will not display the progress of the event from which it was copied. Copied events will have their status set to Open, regardless of the status of the events from which they were copied.

Event associations with assets, business components and related events are also copied. It is important to note that the system copies the associations and does not create copies of the associated objects. That is, if an event is associated with an asset and the event is copied, the association is copied to the new event, but the system does not create a copy of the asset in the Organization module. It should be noted that events associated with enterprise risks, continuity plans, controls or vulnerabilities cannot be copied since it is not possible to copy events created in other modules and events of types in which the association with these objects is enabled.

Parent-child associations cannot be copied. If events with these associations are selected, the events will be copied without their parent and child events. By default, the event title of the copied event is the title of the event from which it was copied plus the suffix "_copy".
