Regular Expression Masks in Attributes

Regular expression masks specify how a field should be completed and are created by concatenating symbols which are grouped into a sequence. Unlike format masks, these validate the content entered in a field and prevent content not provided precisely as specified from being submitted by producing an error message. They are used to validate information, such as formats for URLs, e-mails, dates, IP addresses, and others.

Regular expression masks can be used in Text attributes to validate information entered in asset, perimeter, and event attributes (see figure below).
