How to View and Edit the Location of a Perimeter

This topic explains how to edit the location of a perimeter in the Assets section from the Organization module. You can specify the perimeter’s location or simply provide a description. The system will suggest a location but the coordinates for it will not be completed until you confirm the suggestion by selecting the pin, dropping it back into place, and saving these changes. This default suggestion varies according to the language in which the system was installed (Washington D.C. for English and Spanish; Brasília for Portuguese). If a location was specified for a perimeter, the suggested location for any sub-perimeters will be the parent’s location. An internet connection is required to display maps, and the option to display them must also be enabled in the Display Options section of the Administration module. The map and address search providers must be preconfigured in the system configuration file (web.config). Keep in mind that some providers require a key or access code that is available only to those who purchase their license. It is the user’s responsibility to acquire it.

1.    Access the Organization module.

2.    Select Manage Assets from the Assets option on the menu.

3.    In the Assets section, select the perimeter whose previously specified location you want to view.

4.    Click the Location tab.

The system displays a suggestion for the location of the perimeter.

5.    To specify or edit a location, click Edit.

6.    If you want to search the location by address, select Search by Address and enter the address information where the perimeter is located in the selected field.

7.    Click the correct option that appears on the dropdown menu. The latitude and longitude appear by default on the top part of the map (see figure below).

8.    If you want to search the location by coordinates, select the Latitude / Longitude option.

9.    In the Latitude field, enter the latitude of the location where the perimeter is located using a number between -90 and 90 with up to 6 decimal places.

10. In the Longitude field, enter the longitude of the location where the perimeter is located using a number between -180 and 180 with up to 6 decimal places

11. Click Search to view the coordinates entered in the Latitude and Longitude fields (see figure below).

12. In the Description field, enter any pertinent information on the location of the perimeter.

Note: An alternative way to indicate the location of a perimeter is by dragging the pin to the desired location. The corresponding coordinates will automatically be updated.

13. When finished, click Save. If you want to quit the operation, click Cancel.

The system displays a success message.
